Latest notes for tasks to develop...

The latest roughs and Pop-up P2...

A few more of the rough sketches from my sketchbook, showing to further work on the pop-up direction, but I think now that this book/project is going to be as I have posted before, a 2 version deal. The 40 page print version for mid Jan submission, and the larger 'whistles and bells' pop-up version for the end of year show...

The latest on Pop up P1...

The 2 books on the left courtesy of Hannah Gibson, who i met up with last last Friday at Centenary, and she went through some basic pop up techniques and assembly. Really good session, and we will be working through some ideas together in the coming months. The Book on the left is a children's book from Dorling Kindersley, which originally came out in 1999, called the The POP-UP PULL-OUT Space Shuttle book. In 99 I bought this for my Nephew for his 9th birthday, can't believe it was that long ago. I found this on Amazon last week for 1p (yes it's true, the postage was £2.75) A few photo's below, taken quickly for the blog.

How the book will develop - 2 versions and Blurb online publishing...

After a few days away from my main project due to writing reports, I have been having a think about strategies for this module and beyond, and my thoughts have focused on 2 things. 1. What can I achieve for mid January, and 2. What can I achieve for the end of the course. So my project is going to develop in a couple of ways. For mid Jan I'm going to still design, layout and have printed through Blurb a book of my project. I have started putting the pages together. A couple of months ago I started putting together some of the graphics, and developing the look of the visuals. Today I finally got around to buying some papers for a series of experiments using conventional techniques. Regarding the final version, as Tash describes 'the whistles and bells version' this will have far more use of experimental techniques, pop-up, traditional screenprint, and a mix of inks, and papers.
