Part 3 Screen grabs Revised Design - First public installation at the Royal Exchange...
A few small amends to the original design posted yesterday, after further discussions with the RET, they felt it would be a good idea to knock back the type on the lower board. Not as much in your face so to speak. However the overall look of the graphics, the type and the strength of the look is in line with the overall branding of the 'Investigate theme' set out in the parent materials being created for the 'Resource Kit'.

Latest screen grabs of Photography for the Book...
The photography was undertaken at the Rylands earlier in the week, in the printing press and materials display area. I had the opportunity to take these prior to my meeting with Julianne Simpson (Curator Pioneers of Print) which has also yielded more supportive information for my Dissertation. I also found out that Julianne had prior to the Rylands had been a curator at The Plantin Moretus in Antwerp Belgium for just over 6 years, and also as part of her duties, she had been responsible for the Gutenberg exhibit.

No33 Update on developments...
Reflective Journal Entry No33 11/09/11
Latest posting to update on creative development...
There have been a number of changes, brought about by circumstances beyond my control within the last week. The first of these was down to the Rylands informing me at quite short notice, that I would not be able to undertake my visual experiments as planned on Monday 12th. I believe it is down to the BBC requiring extra time to shoot in the library on that morning. This has set me back at least a few days and at the time of writing i'm not sure if I will be able to rearrange for this week? The library has offered Monday 19th, but this is going to make things very tight for me in the run up to my final submission on the 4th October. It will also place a large amount of pressure to have the final filmed materials ready for my presentation to Peers on the 27th September?
On top of all this the dissertation has become a struggle, only because of losing time on these other areas due to the above and a number of technical issues have arisen with the graphics. I have made good progress on research for the background on the writing and video inclusion on the DVD side of things. I have has to simplify the materials down significantly due to constraints of budget (in this case very little) as I can't believe the cost of getting 2 dissertations printed and bound? Oh well that's the way it goes I guess.
More to follow later...

No32 Setting up an installation and postcards
Reflective Journal Entry No32 03/09/11
Latest posting to update on creative development...
In the last few days I have sent out by post a selection (20) of the printed postcards, from the pack of 90 printed by Moo a month ago, to a random selection of friends and contacts, from around the Globe (New Zealand, Australia, USA, and closer to home, Manchester, Durham, South Wales and finally London) I have asked all to post back to me the card and on the back an example of their handwriting. The sample can be anything, some information about the place where they live, a favourite place visited to a family memory, anything really. These examples will form part of 'Primary gathered evidence' to be include in the 'Resource Kit of Materials' in addition to the handwriting evidence which will be gathered via the MB96 installation scheduled to take place in the Great Hall of the Royal Exchange on Sunday 18th Sept. This has been arranged in partnership with the RET and they are standing the cost of the printed materials. A 5 min presentation of my project work and graphics for MB96, will be projected on the 'view screen' in the Main Hall, either side of this will be '2 large posters designed by me' placed on stands. Positioned in front will be a table where large post it pads will be placed, this is where the general public can write down a memory of where they were on the day of the bombing. They are then asked to stick their note on the poster boards, this will then provide further handwriting evidence for my current work, and will also link back to Phase 1 of the project. Coming full circle!
The exercise coincides with the RET being opened for the first time on a Sunday, as a pre-cursor to a regular event being staged in Manchester from mid October.
